Our industrial-grade liner is tough, but mistakes happen. Sometimes chips, gouges or rust can appear when moving the Modpool, or through usual wear and tear.
Repairing the liner yourself is often the quickest and cheapest approach. The following steps will provide a clear water-proof seal, avoiding the use of paint.
Materials:
- Scotch-Brite Red Scratch Pad
(click here) - Clear Epoxy from any reliable brand
(click here) - 4 Rags
- Paint Mixing Stick
Stage 1: Preparing the Area
- Drain your Modpool to expose the repair spot
- Use a wet rag to clean the area of the repair spot. Dry it with another rag
- Rust spots may appear large, but are usually seeping from a small pinhole in the liner (the hole in the images are exaggerated for demonstration). Use a red scratch pad to remove the surrounding rust and isolate the pinhole.

Only use the sandpaper if absolutely necessary, because it will scratch
- Use the wet rag to wipe away any dust. Dry it with the other rag
Stage 2: Apply Epoxy
- Epoxy can be a skin and eye irritant. Wear gloves and eye protection
- On a piece of cardboard, pour and mix the epoxy with the mix stick.
Make sure the minimum size you pour matches the pictures below, otherwise the solution will not mix properly.
Mix for a minimum 2 minutes. These clear epoxies need thorough mixing or will not cure
- Apply the clear epoxy to the liner with the mixing stick
- Let it cure for 2 days
Now you have a waterproof repair seal! With water in the Modpool, you won't even notice the patch, even without any paint being applied.
